As a fundamental core component in the field of building fastening, 1-inch steel-concrete nails (commonly known as cement nails) have recently demonstrated distinct features of "accelerated technological iteration, optimized market structure, and deepened green transformation" along with the increase in infrastructure investment and the upgrading of manufacturing. They have become a niche category in the metal products industry that combines stability and growth potential. Its length adaptability and high strength characteristics have continuously released its demand in scenarios such as prefabricated buildings and municipal engineering. The development logic of the industry is shifting from "scale expansion" to "quality improvement".

Technological upgrading is the core driving force for the development of the industry. The dual breakthroughs in materials and processes reshape the value of products. Traditional low-carbon steel materials have gradually been replaced by 45# high-carbon steel and MnCrV alloy steel. Through microalloy strengthening technology, a subsidiary of Hebei Jingye Steel has enabled the yield strength of 1-inch products to exceed 650MPa, and the salt spray test corrosion resistance time far exceeds the industry average of 720 hours. Surface treatment processes are showing a trend of "environmentally friendly substitution". Hot-dip galvanizing still dominates (72.8%), but the application proportion of green processes such as cold galvanizing and mechanical galvanizing has increased to 27.2%. Meanwhile, intelligent production has been fully integrated. Over 27% of leading enterprises have achieved full-process closed-loop control from automatic feeding, intelligent detection to automatic packaging. The dimensional tolerance of products remains stable within ±0.05mm, and the yield rate has increased to over 99%.

The market demand side presents a pattern of "strong domestic essential demand and upgraded export structure". In the domestic market, the explosive growth of prefabricated buildings has become a key increment. In 2024, the area of newly started prefabricated buildings across the country will reach 910 million square meters. Such projects consume 60 to 80 1-inch anti-corrosion steel nails per square meter, driving the proportion of special nail procurement amount to rise to 67.3%. In terms of regional distribution, the core areas such as the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta contribute 67% of the output. The central and western regions have increased their capacity share by taking advantage of the dividends of industrial transfer, forming a situation of "quality improvement in the east and expansion in the central region". In terms of exports, the industry's export volume is expected to exceed 2.6 million tons in 2025. Southeast Asia (accounting for 42%) and Africa (with an annual demand increase of 18%) are the core markets. Projects such as the Vietnam Fastener Industrial Park and the Lekki Port in Nigeria have become the demand engines.

The coordination of policies and the industrial chain safeguards the industry, and green and digitalization have become the directions of transformation. The "Implementation Plan for the Transformation and Upgrading of Key Industries during the 14th Five-Year Plan Period" has promoted the numerical control rate of key processes in the industry to over 68%, and the digital penetration rate of leading enterprises has exceeded 58%. The upcoming "Guidelines for Carbon Footprint Calculation of Nail Products" will standardize carbon emission management and assist enterprises in participating in green finance. In terms of the competitive landscape, the market share of CR5 enterprises has risen to 38%. Central enterprises such as Baosteel Metal have seized the high-end market through R&D investment (2.8% of the industry's R&D intensity), pushing the import substitution rate of high-end steel nails to exceed 45%.

In the future, the 1-inch steel-concrete nail industry will focus on two major directions: one is the development of customized products for scenarios such as prefabricated buildings and automotive manufacturing; The second is the in-depth application of technologies such as cyanide-free galvanizing and intelligent detection. With the improvement of industry standards and the deepening of industrial chain integration, such "small products" will continue to release "big value" in the wave of manufacturing upgrading.
