As a core auxiliary material for building waterproofing projects, galvanized felt nails have recently enjoyed dual benefits of policy support and market demand due to their excellent corrosion resistance and nail-holding capacity. With the advancement of the new urbanization and green building strategies, this metal products sub-sector is undergoing a crucial transformation from scale expansion to quality upgrading, and the industry's development logic has been comprehensively restructured.

The rigid growth of market demand constitutes a solid foundation for the development of the industry. Data shows that in 2024, the annual output of galvanized felt nails in China will reach 286,000 tons, an increase of 12.3% compared with 2020, with a stable compound annual growth rate of 2.9%. This growth is driven by multiple policies: the continuous advancement of projects such as the renovation of old urban residential areas and the construction of affordable housing, coupled with the requirements of the "14th Five-Year Plan" for building energy conservation, it is expected that the investment in national roof waterproofing projects will exceed 42 billion yuan by 2025, directly driving the demand for galvanized felt nails to strive for 350,000 tons. Regional demand shows a differentiated feature. The consumption proportion in East China, South China and North China exceeds 65%. The annual consumption in Jiangsu, Guangdong and other provinces has both exceeded 30,000 tons. Meanwhile, the central and western regions, taking advantage of the construction of the "Belt and Road Initiative" nodes, are expected to lead the country in demand growth.

Technological upgrading and environmental protection transformation are reshaping the production pattern of the industry. At present, the industry has formed two major process systems: electro-galvanizing and hot-dip galvanizing. The former accounts for 68% due to its uniform coating, while the latter occupies 22% of the market share in coastal high-humidity projects with its extremely strong corrosion resistance. Environmental protection policies have driven technological innovation. After the implementation of the "Regulations on the Administration of Pollutant Discharge Permits", green production technologies such as closed-loop water treatment and chemical recycling have been popularized, and the energy consumption per unit of leading enterprises has decreased by 15%. Meanwhile, the product standards have been continuously improved. The GB/T 35008-2018 standard has strengthened quality control. The national random inspection pass rate in 2023 has reached 92.4%, an increase of 4.1 percentage points compared with 2020.

The competitive landscape of the industry shows a consolidation trend of "the strong getting stronger". The raising of environmental protection and quality thresholds has accelerated the exit of small and medium-sized production capacity. The number of enterprises with a production capacity of 10,000 tons has dropped from 37 to 29, but the market share of the top ten enterprises has jumped from 31% to 44%. Leading enterprises have achieved product quality traceability and cost optimization by introducing fully automatic cold heading - galvanizing integrated production lines. The launch of the "High-Quality Galvanized Fastener Certification Program" has further promoted the establishment of a quality credit system.

The international market has become a new growth pole. In 2024, the export volume of galvanized felt nails in China reached 43,000 tons, increasing by 9.7% year-on-year. Southeast Asia and the Middle East are the core markets. Domestic enterprises actively align with international standards such as ISO 1459 and ASTM F1667, and have formed competitiveness in green certification and precise coating control. In the future, enterprises that possess environmental protection qualifications, intelligent production capabilities and international certifications will take the leading position in the high-quality development of the industry.
