The manufacturing process of steel nails is quite complex and precise. First, the selection of raw materials is crucial. The steel billets are then rolled by a rolling machine into rods or round steel, and then undergo heat treatment, including heating, holding, and cooling, to enhance the hardness, strength, and toughness of the steel. The subsequent tempering process is used to eliminate internal stress and enhance the material's machinability. After these processes, the steel is cut into specific lengths of steel nail blanks, and then pressed and formed by an extrusion machine to form the basic shape of the steel nail. Finally, the formed steel nails need to undergo surface treatments such as deburring, polishing, and galvanizing to enhance their appearance quality, corrosion resistance, and oxidation resistance. After passing inspection, they can be packaged and shipped out.
Steel nails come in various types and have different shapes and uses. Common ones include round nails, also known as iron nails, which are made from hot-rolled low-carbon wire rod and cold-drawn steel wire, processed by a nail-making machine. They have a strength of 500 to 1300 MPa and are widely used for wood fixation, etc. Flat-headed nails and flat-head nails are named after their head shapes. Square nails, triangular nails play a role in specific structural fixation. Horseback nails are U-shaped and are mainly used for fixing metal sheet nets, screens, and indoor and outdoor hanging lines. Woven nails have a shape like a twisted thread and have strong gripping force, suitable for drawers, wooden ceiling hanging rods, etc. Shot nails are new steel nails that are launched by a shooting gun and are widely used in the fine woodwork and wood surface coating projects of modern architecture. Cement nails are made of high-quality steel and are hard and resistant to bending, capable of being directly driven into concrete and brick walls. Common specifications are 7 to 35 mm. In addition, there are also fitting nails, felt nails, corrugated nails, etc., each with its unique application.
In terms of application, steel nails can be regarded as a "multi-purpose tool". In the construction field, from building the framework of houses, fixing doors and windows, to installing ceilings and laying floors, steel nails are used to connect various wood, metal, plastic, and composite materials. For example, steel nails are commonly used to fix wood in building decoration, and special head nails can be used to fix plastic products to ensure a smooth surface; in furniture manufacturing, from tables, chairs, benches to cabinets and wardrobes, steel nails quickly and firmly connect wood components to meet structural and decorative requirements; in industrial production, steel nails play a role in some temporary fixation scenarios with lower connection strength requirements for metals; in the medical field, steel nails are used in bone surgery to fix fracture sites, maintaining stability and promoting healing, and are also used in joint fusion surgery, spinal fusion surgery, etc., to fix implanted bones or prostheses.
